Fall League - Season Recap

The Fall Baseball season came to unexpected end as we woke up in our hotel rooms in Minneapolis. The temperature was 28 degrees and a steady snowfall cancelled the final day of the Minnesota Mash Fall Club Classic. On Saturday, October 13th,  SF Post 15 Academy team won 9-6 against the Minnesota Mash – Hemphill and won 3-2 against Complete Game Red. Below are recaps from every game the Sioux Falls Post 15 Academy team played the is fall. In conclusion, the overall record for Sioux Falls Post 15 Academy was 8-2-1.

Sept. 27th– SF Post 15 Academy against Brandon Valley

 

In the first game of the fall, SF Post 15 some great pitching performances from the whole pitching staff. During the course of the 14 inning contest, 7 out of 13 players had multiple hits. Dylan Ades (4 rbi’s) and Keaton Hartman (3 rbi’s) lead the team hitting. 

 

Final Score – SF Post 15 Academy - 21      Brandon Valley - 8

 

Oct 1st- SF Post 15 Academy against Northwestern College (Iowa)

 

SF Post 15 Academy went down to visit Northwestern College and came away with a great experience. Grady Gulbranson lead started the game off with a bang, hitting a 2 run homerun. Throughout the back and forth contest, Sioux Falls strung together timely hits, but some crucial walks hurt the in the long run.

 

Final Score – Northwestern – 8   SF Post 15 Academy - 5

 

Oct. 6thand 7th– Wood Bat Exposure Tournament

 

SF Post 15 Academy – 10    Acceleration – 4

 

In the first game of the Wood Bat Exposure tournament, SF Post 15 took took an early 2-0 lead on Grady Gulbranson’s 2 rbi triple. In the 4thinning, Ben Simonsen out the game fully out of reach with a 3 rbi double. Joe Lund and Grady Gulbranson led SF Post 15 Academy with a multi-hit game.

 

SF Post 15 Academy – 2     NE Prospects – 2

 

A well-played game was ended in a tie due time limit. Dylan Ades and Ben Simonsen held the NE Prospects off balance over 5 innings. Sioux Falls Post had hits from Joe Lund, Connor Rysavy, Presten Riddle, and Tyler Boyum.

 

SF Post 15 Academy – 9    Quad Cities Sticks – 5

 

Sioux Falls bats came alive late to take care of the Quad Cities Sticks. Grady Gulbranson led double in one run in the 1st. Boyum led the way at the plate going 2 for 2 with one double and 3 rbi’s. Hartman and Hammer had 5 stolen bases between the two. Hartman, Grove, and Rysavy held the Sticks in check on the mound.

 

Oct. 13 and 14th– Minnesota Mash Fall Club Championship

 

SF Post 15 Academy – 9    Minnesota Mash – 6

 

Sioux Falls took an early lead and didn’t look back in their win again the Minnesota Mash. Offensively, Sioux Falls was led by Joe Lund and Ben Nelson with 2 hits apiece. Karsten Grove and Nelson each has 2 stolen bases. Bartels, Stahl and Hartman through well to hold of the Mash. Bartels went 3 and 2/3 with 4 k’s, 5 BB’s, 3 hits and 4 runs given up. Stahl threw 1 and 1/3 allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 1 BB. Hartman closed out a scoreless inning to record the save.

Presten Riddle led the way with a good pitching performance for Sioux Falls while Dylan Ades closed out the final inning. Offensively, Sioux Falls was led by Matt Fiegen and Ben Simonsen each driving in an RBI.
