State Tournament

A 1-3 weekend at the state tournament in Watertown concluded the 2018 season for 16U East.

In their first round game against Renner, Ben Horsted and Grant Graber each had three hits for East in their 7-4 loss. Renner scored four runs in the first two innings and three more in the fourth to take control of the game. East attempted to make a comeback in the sixth, but fell short despite out-hitting Renner, 10-6.

East stormed back on July 27 against Watertown as they earned an 11-1 victory to stay alive in the tournament. East hit four doubles and put together 15 hits in the win. Five East batters had two-or-more hits.

East and West faced off for one last time later on July 27. This time, East was blanked, 15-0 by their rival. Brooks Stein had two of East's five hits in the game.

Aberdeen was their final opponent of the tournament and the season on July 28.

East put up a fight by coming back and taking the lead in the fifth inning. They held on to that lead until the bottom of the sixth, when Aberdeen scored five to take a 10-6 lead. That was enough to put East away in the end. Ben Bathke doubled and had two singles to lead East.

East went 17-28-3 in the summer of 2018.
