State Tournament

A third place finish at the state tournament July 27 through 29 capped off a 30-27 season for 13/14 East.

The team opened up with a thrilling, 12-11 victory over Watertown on July 11. Kaleb Nyhaug went 2-3 to lead the charge offensively for East. A back and fourth battle ended with four runs scored by East in the bottom of the fifth inning to win the game, 12-11.

East wasn't able to continue the momentum in game 2 on July 28. Mitchell scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed in the game as they defeated East, 9-7. Jack Nesje doubled and drove in two runs while Nyhaug added two more hits, including a triple for East.

Looking to end the season with a W, East faced Brandon Valley in the third place game on July 29.

A balanced attack, which featured nine hits and Elijah Bradenburg's four innings pitched, pushed East passed Brandon Valley, 8-4. Brandenburg struck out four and gave up just two earned runs to earn the victory.
