East struggled in their double header in Brookings that opened up their week of games.
In the first game, East fell, 13-9. Brookings scored 10 runs in the final two innings to take the lead and eventually win the game.
Jaden Feterl went 3-4 and had 3 RBIs in the loss.
Feterl collected two more hits as East combined for four doubles, but fell, 9-2.
Brookings scored nine runs in the first two innings. Those nine runs would be all the runs needed to win the game.
East hosted Luverne the next night for two games at Harmodon Park.
Game 1 resulted in an 8-1 East loss. Ben Horsted had one of East's five hits with his triple in the first innning. Luverne scored at least one run in each of the six innings played.
The two teams tied, 7-7 in the second game. Nate Olson went 4-4 at the plate as Grant Graber drove in two runs on three hits.
East would face several, out-of-state opponents at home in Sioux Falls in the Mid-Summer Classic. First up was against Lincoln, Neb. on July 14.
East would win, 9-6 to open up the tournament. Ben Horsted and Nate Olson each had multi-hit games for the East offense.
Burnsville, Minn. was the next opponent for East as the team was able to earn an impressive win. The East offense came up big in their 10-1 win with Ben Horsted continuing to have a hot bat by reaching base three times on hits.
The team would fall to Excelsior, Minn. on July 15 by a final score of 14-0, but recovered nicely that night against Worthing. East would win the final game of the tournament, 13-7. Ethan Strawn collected a triple and two doubles to go along with his three RBIs.
