July 9 Double Header vs. Huron

West did not start the week off the way they wanted to in a disappointing double header in Huron on June 9.

Game 1 resulted in a 16-2 loss for West. Huron took a 10-0 lead in the second inning and limited West to just one hit in a one-sided game.

The gap was smaller but Huron was able to take game 2, 4-2. West took an early 2-1 lead in the first inning and held on to the lead until Huron scored two runs in the third inning. West committed four errors in the game, which did not help starter Ethan Rames, who just allowed one of the four Huron runs scored in his 4 2/3 innings pitched.

July 11 Double Header vs. Brandon Valley

West's road swing continued as the team traveled to Brandon Valley for a double header on July 11.

West had no trouble on this night as they blew away Brandon Valley in both games. Game 1 resulted in a 14-4 win.

With just four hits, West took advantage of seven Brandon Valley errors. It was a long game for Brandon Valley as the errors, combined with the 12 walks allowed, sunk the home team.

It was another large-margin victory for West in game 2 as they defeated West, 12-1. Brody Bohnet pitched the length of the game and struck out four.

Mid-Summer Classic July 13 through 15

West would head back to Sioux Falls for the Mid-Summer Classic on July 13 as they opened up the tournament against 13U East.

13U East would win 13-1 in a forgettable game for West.

West would try to shake off the loss on July 14. They would fall to Harrisburg that afternoon, 6-4, but would earn their first win of the tournament against Yankton that night.

Luke Nelson and Matthew Viehweg each collected two hits in three at-bats in the loss against Harrisburg. Kyler Miritello struck out 12 and allowed just three hits in that game.

West took the win in a evenly matched game against Yankton. West out-hit Yankton 12-11 and both teams committed three errors in West's 8-6 win.
