East opened up their 2018 season on May 22 with a double header sweep at Renner. East had strong pitching performances in their first game. Jackson Boe did not give up a hit in his outing as he struck out seven in four innings pitched as Jackson Geerts was able to come in relief to strike out four and only give up one hit in three innings pitched in a 3-0 win.
The strong pitching continued in the second game in addition to scoring 10 runs to help East complete the sweep in game two. Cael Swanson pitched three shutout innings while striking out three. Mitchell Peters went 2-2 and collected three RBIs while Mason Tolrud added two hits and two RBIs.
The team suffered their first loss of the season against the Sioux Falls Cyclones Blue on May 25 with a final score of 7-5. East had a patient approach in the game by collecting five walks, but committed five errors on the defensive side.
East got back into the win column on May 26 with a 2-0 win over Brandon Valley. Logan Stockberger threw a complete game shutout and struck out seven while giving up just two hits. Stockberger and Jackson Boe each collected one hit and an RBI.
East powered their way to victory by defeating rival West, 12-1 on May 27. Marcus Koester tripled to drive in two runs and Garret Hoffman went 2-3 with a double and two RBIs.
East did not have much luck in a double header in Harrisburg on May 31. Harrisburg outscored East 30-8 in the two games. East was held to one hit in the first game, losing 16-5 as Harrisburg started the game by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first. Boe's double, which drove in two runs, was the only East hit in the game. East then fell 14-3 in game 2.
East got back into the win column against Bismark in their first game playing in the Fargo Tournament on June 2. Bismark lost a 7-3 lead in the sixth inning when East rallied to score four runs to tie the game. Charlie Mickelson's walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave East an 8-7 victory.
East was on the other side of a walk-off in their second game on June 2 as Waite Park scored in the bottom of the seventh to win the game, 4-3.
East was blanked and held to one hit the next day on June 3 against Fargo. Chase Johnson recorded the only hit for East but was not the only baserunner as the team also walked four different times.
East concluded the weekend with a wild game against Grand Forks in the afternoon of June 3. East scored 10 runs in the fourth inning to take a 14-2 lead. Grand Forks responded in the bottom half of the fourth by scoring eight runs. East was able to use that inning to win 15-10. Chase Johnson homered as Noah Robertson tripled in the huge fourth inning for the East offense.
