Brookings was the first opponent East played against in the 2018 season on May 24 at Harmodon Park.
East jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first inning and would later go onto capture their first win of the season. Isaac Pullen dominated both on the pitching mound and at the plate. He collected three RBIs on two hits while striking out 13 batters over five innings pitched. Joe Jacobson added two hits and three RBIs as well in the win.
The East offense continued to pour on runs against Brookings as they would go onto sweep Brookings in the double header after a 10-2 win. Jacobson, Kaleb Nyhaug and Callum Coots each collected two hits. The team combined for 20 stolen bases.
The team suffered their first loss at the Marshall Tournament in Marshall, Minn. against Westonka on May 26. Coots and Jacobson drove in the team's only two runs as East fell 14-2.
In the afternoon, East bounced back with a 5-3 win over Coldsprings. John Dekkenga struck out nine batters in 4 2/3 innings pitched as Thomas Messenbrink III drove in three runs and came around to score on a single in the bottom of the 8th to lead the East offense.
On the last day of the Marshall Tournament, East was held scoreless against Alexandria in the first game of the day and lost 12-0. East ended the day with a win as they defeated West 4-2.
East hosted a double header against Brandon Valley on May 30 at Harmodon Park. The two teams would split the games as East lost 7-6 in game 1 and won 17-3 in game 2.
In game 1, Brandon Valley scored two runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead late in the game. East was out-hit 14-5.
East responded with a better performance in game 2 by collecting 16 hits. East scored nine runs to open up the game in the bottom of the first inning. Carter Doescher went 4-4 and brought in four runs. Six East batters had two hits in the game.
It was a forgettable weekend for East at the Rochester Tournament June 1-3. Losses to Edina on June 1, 5-2; Saint Paul Highland Park on June 2, 25-0; and Prior Lake on June 2, 18-3; caused for a frustrating weekend for East.
