Sioux Falls Post 15 Elite East & West

Sept. 25 through Sunday Oct. 1

 

It was an exciting week for the Sioux Falls Post 15 Elite East and West teams teams this week. Both teams got to compete against Morningside College JV, Northwestern College JV, and USF JV teams.

 

Tuesday, Sept. 26

 

Sioux Falls Post 15 Elite Combined - 10    Morningside College - 5

 

Sioux Falls got down early giving up two runs in the bottom of the 1st, but even the score on a two-run home run by John Rogers. Sioux Falls took the lead on an rbi single by Preston Riddle and never relinquished lead the rest of the way with score at least one run in the next 3 frames. Sioux Falls Elite pitched well allowing five runs on nine hits, striking out 10 and walking 4 in the 12 inning exhibition game. Sioux Falls was lead by multiple hitters and the big blast by John Rogers in the top of the 2nd.

 

Thursday, Sept. 28

 

Sioux Falls Post 15 Elite West - 2     Northwestern College - 2

 

Sioux Falls Post 15 Elite West made the trek down to Orange City, IA to play Northwestern College’s JV team. It was a rough night for the West pitching staff after holding the Red Raider hitters at bay through four innings and took a 2-1 lead in the fifth. West collected 2 runs on 5 hits during the 14 inning contest with Karsten Grove and Ben Simonsen driving in the lone runs. West was led by Matt Fiegen on the mound throwing 2 innings of shutout ball and striking out four.

 

Saturday, Sept. 30

 

Sioux Falls Post 15 Elite East - 5    USF - 17

 

Sioux Falls East pitching staff had a rough afternoon against the high powered offense of USF giving up 17 runs on 15 hits. Sioux Falls East was down 6-1 and put up 3 runs in the fifth inning before USF score 8 more runs in the bottom half. East were led offensively by Brandon Ford and Alex Fuhs with multiple hits.

 

 

Sioux Falls Post 15 Elite West - 2    USF - 2

 

Sioux Falls West score one run in the top half of the first, but USF answered by score to runs of their own. In the middle, it was a chess match as both teams held each other scoreless till the 6th inning and West tied the game. West managed to hold USF from scoring in the bottom of the 7th inning with the bases load on a crazy 2-5-1 putout at the plate followed by a 1-6 out at third to end the game. Grady Gulbranson had two hits to lead the West offense. Cole Adam led the pitching staff throwing 3 innings striking three and walking 1.

 

 

Sioux Falls Post 15 Elite West will finish their fall season playing Brandon Valley on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at Harmodon Park. Game starts at 5:00 pm.

 

Sioux Falls Post 15 Elite East will travel to Orange City, IA to play Northwestern College on Thursday, Oct. 5 to conclude the fall season.
